FCA 28th Annual Auction: Save the date! March 24th at Connections Community Church from 11am to 4pm.  We are always looking for volunteers for our auction. If you are interested in volunteering this year, contact Jen Stanley 304-676-8530.

We are also looking for items for the auction: furniture, antiques and unique items.  Did you happen to receive something as a gift during the holidays that you don’t have a use for? Repurpose your item and donate it for the auction!  Also check out our link for more ideas. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0b4ca8ab28aaf58-auction

529 Savings Plan Meeting: We have scheduled a speaker to talk to our families about the WV SMART529 Savings Plans on Monday, March 26 at 7:00 p.m. here in the Chris May Memorial Gymnasium. Please call the office to RSVP 304-263-0011.

Sicknesses:  In an effort to clear up the germs and viruses, we are asking that if your child experiences any of the following symptoms to please keep them home for the day. Symptoms include:  Runny nose with yellow/green discharge, nausea/vomiting, sore throat, chills or fever, diarrhea or any other conditions that might be contagious.  A student should be fever free for 24 hours (without medication) before returning back to school.

Elementary Parents:  We make every effort to get the students outside for fresh air.  If the Real Feel temperature is above 32 degrees, we keep the students outside for about 30 minutes.  When the Real Feel temperature is right around 30 degrees, we take the students outside for at least 15 minutes.  If the Real Feel temperature is below 30 degrees, we usually keep the students inside for play.  With this in mind, please make sure your child wears a heavy, warm winter coat to school.  A hat, gloves, and scarf are also beneficial.

Weather Announcement:  Any time the forecast is for inclement weather our primary goal is to make the very best decision for the safety of our students. We realize that our students come from a wide geographic area and that road conditions often vary greatly across the region. When inclement weather occurs, parents must use their best judgment in determining whether or not to bring children to school or pick them up early. When parents choose to keep their children home due to the weather, those absences will be excused with a note indicating the reason for the absence or tardy.  We also ask that parents avoid calling the school for information while school is in session so that the phone lines can be used for emergency purposes. We will always send an email as our first form of notification. Thanks for your patience and support as we make these difficult decisions.

School Emergency Closings:  In case of inclement weather, please be advised that we do not always follow the Berkeley County Public Schools emergency closing schedule! Faith Christian Academy will always have its own announcement regarding school closings and delays.  We will place announcements in the following media:

  • School website: faithchristianacademy.net (“Quick Notes” along right side of home page)
  • Radio stations: WEPM (1340 AM) and Lite 97.5
  • Television: NBC News 25
  • E-mail: An e-mail will be sent through the Renweb data base – all parents will receive an e-mail alert
  • Phone Message: Call the school and enter extension 223 for weather related messages

Every attempt will be made to make a call by 6:00 a.m. on the morning of a cancellation or delay. If a two-hour delay is called then parents need to check back and see if a second announcement is made. Again, every attempt will be made to make a call as quickly as possible.  A two-hour delay will result in before care opening at 9:00 a.m.  On days where weather may prompt an early dismissal, please do not call the school office.  Check your email frequently when inclement weather occurs or listen for the radio announcement.  The school phone lines are needed for emergency purposes.

Wednesday, February 7th: In case of bad weather on Wednesday and school is canceled we will carry Panda Express orders over to next week. We will also be eliminating Tourist Day.

Parent surveys: Each year we conduct surveys of our families, staff, and students. The goal is to get feedback that can be used to help our school improve. As most of you know, we are accredited jointly by The Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). North Central is the organization that produces these surveys. Before our next accreditation visit (2020) we are required to conduct what is called “nationally-normed” surveys. These are surveys that are conducted all around the world in schools like ours. The results we receive can then be compared to these norms that have been established, giving us even better feedback.

Our plan is to conduct this same survey this school year and next. Over the next few weeks, we will be collecting surveys from our parents, students, and staff. We will make those results available for you to review when the data has been collected. The survey link has been emailed to parents and will be open through Friday, February 9, 2018.

Spirit Week: The week of February 5th – February 9th is spirit week here at FCA!! Students, Faculty, and Staff are encouraged to dress up to show their school spirit!! Week Dress: Mon – Pajama Day, Tues – Costume Day, Wed – Tourist Day, Thurs – American Day, and Fri – Blue/Gold Day. All costumes must meet school guidelines (see below) for modesty. STUDENTS WHO DO NOT PARTICIPATE ARE EXPECTED TO WEAR REGULAR SCHOOL UNIFORM. Prizes will be awarded to the class with the most participation (MS/HS School ) and the individual daily class winners!

Spirit Links: 1st – 5th Graders are encouraged to participate in the Annual Spirit Link competition. Help your class form the longest Spirit Link chain by purchasing links for 25 cents each. The winning class will be announced during the spirit week assembly on Friday, February 9th and will win an Ice Cream Sundae Party!

All money will benefit the Falcon Fanatic Booster Club which funds all the athletic programs at the school.  Let’s Go Falcons!!
