FCA Falcon Band & Orchestra in competition: This past Saturday, 40 instrumentalists from the Falcon Band & Orchestra and 64 of their family and friends gathered in Hershey, Pennsylvania for a Music in the Parks competition event. This was FCA’s first-ever competition trip. The students performed well and everyone had a good time in Hersheypark afterward.

Our ensemble earned a first-place trophy in the “High-School Full Orchestra” competition category, and the judges’ scores gave our performance a “Good” rating. This is only the second year of the existence of the Falcon Band & Orchestra. To have earned the judges’ rating of a “Good” performance this early in the history of the instrumental program shows that our performers are developing in their performance skills and musicianship and are on the right track for further development.

This trip was a fun reward for the hard work that our instrumentalists have done for Mr. Crawford throughout the school year. Join us in our Spring Concert on Thursday, May 17th, in the FCA gymnasium as we celebrate their musical achievements.

From the Librarian’s Desk: Summer is almost here! This is the last week for students to check out books. All books are due by next Friday, May 18. Please check with your student(s) to see if they are current on returning books. Check out the library website (shericooper.wixsite.com/fcalibrary) next week to see the summer reading program. Thank you, Mrs. Sheri Cooper

Labors of Love T-Shirt Design Contest:  Congratulations to Kiersten Gardner. She won our LOL T-Shirt design contest!

Teacher/Staff Appreciation:  Join us in showing our teachers and staff how much they are appreciated during Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, May 7 – 11.  A simple note of thanks will surely make them feel appreciated for all their hard work!

Mentoring Day: Our last mentoring day is Thursday, May 17th.  Students will be having lunch with their mentor on the playground.

Election Day:  May 8th is election day there will be no school. Just a reminder that we will be using the  “Falcon Folders”(elementary) and E-learning (secondary) to make up our snow day from earlier in the year during the Primary Election Day, May 8 (when there is NO SCHOOL)..Assignments will be given to students by Friday, May 4, and will be due, Wednesday, May 9.

FCA Basketball Camp: Basketball camp registration is open!  Camp runs June 11th – 15th session time is 10AM – 12PM. Early registration $40 by May 1st.

FCA Volleyball Coaches: Olivia Peifer will be coaching our MS girls. She assisted our teams last year and is a graduate of FCA (class of 2014). She played basketball, volleyball and track at FCA.

Sarah Michael will be coaching our JV/Varsity team. She is also an FCA graduate (class of 09) and played volleyball, basketball and track at FCA.

It’s such a blessing to have alumni who have played in our athletic department now giving back to our current student-athletes. I’m excited to see what God will do through them both athletically and spiritually in the lives of our student-athletes!

Labors of Love:  We kicked off our final fundraiser of the year yesterday in an assembly. Look for pledge forms in mailbags this evening.  On May 25th our students will be working with their community helper partner for two hours in the morning and then head over to War Memorial Park for lunch and a time of fellowship.  Every student and parent who work that day will receive a t-shirt.  Student shirts are free and parents are $5.  We are encouraging each student to raise $100.  If a student raises $100 they earn dress down for the remaining three weeks of school (Beginning May 14th).  Students will begin collecting money and will need to have their money turned in by May 14th in order to earn dress down privileges. Each student will have their own fundraising page.  Click here to view your students page and see the leaderboard for the school.

Faith Spirit Shop:  Don’t forget to order your Falcon apparel!  You can order your Falcon apparel from our website.  A portion of the money comes back to our school!  Visit us at FaithChristianAcademy.net to place your order.

Sicknesses:  In an effort to clear up the germs and viruses, we are asking that if your child experiences any of the following symptoms to please keep them home for the day. Symptoms include: Runny nose with yellow/green discharge, nausea/vomiting, sore throat, chills or fever, diarrhea or any other conditions that might be contagious. A student should be fever free, and symptom free for 24 hours (without medication) before returning back to school.
