This year we are excited to share that we have added a food truck to our venue Ella’s Bites!  Check out their menu below. This is a great time to gather all of those wonderful Happy Meal toys and send them in for our prize table! We are also looking for a couple of pop-up tents to use for the day.

We need some help running our festival games.  Check out the link below to sign-up to volunteer for an hour that day.

Martins A+ for Education:  This is a different program than the Cash for Causes program.  This program tracks your spending via your Bonuscard and donates money to the school.  YOU must register your card online at MartinsFoods.com.  Don’t forget to register, so that FCA gets credit.  This is a great way to give back without spending a penny.

Entering Building after School Hours:  Parents picking up students after school from after care must come to the main office entrance and buzz in through the security system and identify their child and his or her grade. Parents then wait at the office window while we page the after care workers. Parents attending after school activities in the gymnasium must pick up students at the main office entrance first. The doors in the secondary wing hallway are locked at 3:30 and parents must circle the building to enter at the main office.

Medication:  Medication cannot be administered to students, nor can students use inhalers, unless a “Physician Statement of Need” is completed by your doctor.  This includes Tylenol, Advil, and all other over-the-counter medications.  Also, prescribed medication must be in its original container and have the Physician Statement of Need form completed (a prescription container is not sufficient).  Please note that this is a state regulation that we must follow without exception.

Physical Education Uniforms for Middle and High School:  Students in 6th – 12th grade who have physical education must have a ‘Faith Christian Academy’ t-shirt for gym class. It can be purchased from our “Falcon Spirit Shop” on our website www.faithchristianacademy.net.

High School Retreat:  Permission slips for the high school retreat were mailed home last Monday. The retreat is Thursday and Friday, September 6th & September 7th. Forms are due back to the school by Friday, August 31th.

Elementary Parents:  Starting this week all K-5th students must walk themselves to their classrooms in the morning.  Pre-K parents must walk pre-kindergarten students to their classroom per state regulation, but all other parents should stop before entering the elementary hallway.  This allows the child to gain independence in entering the classroom and unpacking for the day. This also allows the teachers to start class on time.

No School Monday September 3rd:  School will be closed in observance of Labor Day.

Drop/Add Classes:  High school students can drop or add classes through Friday, September 21st.

After-Care:  After care ends promptly at 5:30 pm.  Students not picked up at that time are billed $10 per half hour or portion thereof from that time on.  After-Care will be billed monthly.  Parents will receive an email statement the 1st week of the month for previous monthly billing.

Pizza Lunch:  Pizza will start this week on Tuesday, August 28th.  If you are interested in helping, please contact Kelly Gardner at 304-283-7327

Chick-fil-A Senior Lunch:  The first CFA lunch will be Thursday, August 30th.

From the Librarian’s Desk: Welcome back to school! We have some exciting things planned for this year in the library! First, don’t forget to send in your child’s Summer Reading Bingo sheet to win awesome prizes. The deadline is September 1st. If your student is new this year or your returning student has lost their form, don’t panic! I have more forms that I will make available when your child has library this week. I’m looking forward to an awesome year with your child!

FCA Good Neighbor Golf Classic:  Dust off your golf shoes and join us on the greens, September 17th at Whitetail Golf Resort.  We need players, teams, tee sign sponsorships and door prizes!  You can register online at faithchristianacademy.net or click here to register.  For questions email jen.stanley@faithchristianacademy.net See you on the greens!

Guidance Information: There is a Guidance Department bulletin board in the HS hallway outside of Mr. Keppley’s room. Any scholarship/internship and other related opportunities will be posted to this board. Check in periodically if you have interest in these items.

Drop Off:  Please note that families will not be charged for before-care for students entering the school after 7:45 a.m., however, they must report to the gymnasium until before-care dismissal.  Parents who accompany their students into the school in the morning must remain in the entry area and not proceed into the elementary hallway until teachers and students are dismissed from before-care.  All other students must report to the gym.  This is the devotional time for our faculty and they are in prayer for our school and students.  All teachers attend this devotional and should not be interrupted.

Pick Up:  If you have students in both elementary and middle/high school, please have your MS/HS students come to the elementary wing for pick-up.

Traffic Flow:  Be sure to follow the traffic flow pattern indicated on the map in order to keep dismissal running smoothly and for the safety of our students.  Please keep your pick up number displayed until your child gets in your vehicle so we know where to direct the students.  If your child needs to be strapped into a car seat or booster seat, please pull forward into an open space out of the traffic flow and strap in the seat.  This will keep the traffic flowing.  If you have a very young child, you may want to consider pulling in the lane next to the school so that your child does not have to cross in front of other vehicles.

Clubs for 6th-12th Grade Students:  Students in grades 6-12 will have an “Enrichment Period” on Thursdays throughout the school year.  This period will be used for class meetings, tutoring opportunities, and clubs.  The “Enrichment Period” period will begin each Thursday at 2:45 and end at 3:15 unless special arrangements are made with the club sponsor and club members.
